teething...

need i say more? it has been horrible the last couple of days. i feel so badly for him. i'm hoping that something will break through--anything just so i know all of his whining and pain wasn't for nothing!?

jack continues to get cuter each day. he is constantly "talking" and never wants to sit still. actually, i'm sad to say i wasn't around tonight for a first...he has been scooting around for a while now, but he got up on all fours tonight while he was hanging with my dad (a.k.a. grandpa). of course he wasn't exactly sure what to do when he got up, but that's just part of the learning process. so now it really is only a matter of time before he's mobile and nothing is safe!

i don't have any pictures because i'm at my parent's house this week and forgot my firewire, but i was scrolling through iphoto on their computer and found some from jack's 1st week. i cannot believe how big he is. my favorite quote of the week is from mike when i showed him some of these pics...he replied "new jack would eat old jack." isn't that the truth!

drumroll please...

jack woke up from his typical 30 minute nap this morning, and since he woke up and was happily rolling around in his crib, i decided to leave him in there for a bit while i finished typing an email. well, about 10 minutes pass and he still sounds happy so i take a gander on the monitor, and low and behold this is what i see....


he sat up on his own for the first time!? he had pulled his quilt down onto him and was just babbling away!?

here are a couple of pics of jack enjoying his new fun table. it's the learn and groove table and he seems to really enjoy it. it plays music and words in both spanish and english. we're working on getting his balance a little better.

mike's big weekend:)

mike graduated from marist on friday with his masters in communications. in true marist style it poured all day! between the 2 of us we have no luck when it comes to graduations; both of our undergrad graduations were rained on. despite the weather and the move indoors, the day was great!



we also went to amy and matt's wedding last night. it was a beautiful day, and miraculously we made it on time despite the fact that we got there a 1/2 hour after the ceremony was supposed to start. a bus with guests got lost and saved us from being terribly rude! i know my parents are laughing right now b/c they told me we'd need o leave earlier than we had planned...yeah, yeah i know;)


here are a couple pics of jack trying the mesh feeder. for those that are unaware, i.e. i haven't complained to you yet, jack has been teething horribly. so i gave him the mesh feeder with some frozen mango inside. at first he made the most hilarious "mom what the heck is this?!" face, but in about 3 minutes he demolished it!

seriously, running while pushing the stroller is harder work than i expected!? we went out this morning and ran along the bronx river reservation. it is so pretty, it has little brooks and waterfalls, ducks & geese, and lots of other mommies running and walking with their little ones. jack was very well-behaved and babbled pretty much the whole time--so cute! hopefully we can make this a routine:)

on a more exciting note, our friends amy & matt are getting married this weekend. we're looking forward to it, and wish them a happily ever after...happy wedding to you both!

my 1st mother's day!

so i got a running stroller from mike & jack for mother's day! now i really have no excuses for not getting myself out for a run:) since it was raining today we couldn't use it, but i think j and i will go out tomorrow morning...i'll take some pics. finger's crossed he likes it and cooperates for at least 45 minutes!

on another note, i think we're on the cusp of separation anxiety. for the past couple of days jack has shown signs of this and it breaks my heart. i know he just wants me to hold him, but how's a girl supposed to get anything done all day if i can't leave his side!? maybe he'll grow out of this phase quickly. i'm sure once he learns how to crawl he'll want nothing to do with me anyways!

happy belated 7 months!!

sorry this is late, we had to take the mac in to be fixed. life was tough without a computer, it is amazing how dependent you are on it!? anyways, i digress....

i cannot believe jack is 7 months. i know i sound like a broken record since i say it on his "birth"day each month, but seriously, 7 months!? i'm not biased or anything, but he gets cuter every day. he is becoming such a little person. he definitely has his cantankerous moments, but for the most part he is a happy baby. now i wouldn't say he can sit still for very long, but i chalk that up to his unending curiosity:) happy 7 months jack...mom and dad love you so much and love to watch you grow and learn!

so on our daily constitutional this morning, otherwise known as our morning walk, some older man steps out of the way to let us pass and then proceeds to tell me he needed to make way for the future president?! hmmm....that got me to thinking, i'm not sure i'd like jack to be the president. i think there's way too much pressure and let's be honest someone always hates you no matter how good of a job you do. i think i'd rather him be a ceo, or entreprenuer, ooo, how about a professional athlete. i guess he can be whatever he wants to be as long as it makes him happy:)

now onto my post title...we were on the swings today and another woman was there with her grandson. we were just making small talk...well finally she asked "how old she was?" and i said oh, no it's a boy and he's 6 1/2 months. so now i'm a bit perplexed b/c j couldn't have been dressed more like a boy today, and not only that, but it was the 5th time in the last 2 weeks that someone has mistaken him for a girl--WTH?! i don't really care, but i thinks its kind of odd considering he's in blue a majority of the time. does anyone else think he looks like a girl???

i took these this morning after breakfast...jack loves to roll around and hang out on our bed!
