let's go see the horses...

jack loves to visit uncle greg at the farm. he is especially keen on the chickens--i think mostly because they're closer to his size! you would never know that he lives in a metro area because he is right at home on the farm:)

here are some fun pics from one of our many visits while we've been visiting upstate...

he got such a kick out of the chickens...he kept trying to catch them!

look at all these chickens!

it really is beautiful there...

ballooooonsssss...

we took jack to the adirondack balloon festival yesterday morning. we left a little before 7am and didn't actually get into the festival until almost 9am!? keeping in mind that we actually got to the fest in 20 minutes, but the line to get in was that long. we finally park, and start to notice that there really aren't any balloons taking off...um, due to fog they weren't allowed to. so not only did we wait that long to get in, we get there and the balloons we kept telling jack about didn't even exist! he kept asking to see them--i felt so bad!

it wasn't a total bust though because jack got to go in a bounce house for the first time, and he loved it!

sheer determination...trying to get to the other side

i love this one because you can see mike smiling at him in the background:)

sadly, the only balloon we saw:(

mommy, i wuf you...

i think my heart melted a thousand times over when i heard him say this to me for the first time the other day! i don't think i say this often enough, but many times during the day my heart feels like it will explode out of sheer joy for him. he truly is the most amazing thing that has ever happened to me.

on another note, we were at the park today, and while normally jack still partakes in parallel play, today he started to interact with another little girl. at first it was more like "mom, look a girl!" then it was "girl, i come with you..." and before you know they're holding hands across the bridge and going down the slide. it was the cutest thing ever! turns out said little girl was 4 years old, so i guess jack has a thing for the older ladies;) poor thing even cried when she left. i'm sure not the last time a girl will break his heart!

the haircut :(

we decided it was time to take jack in for a trim. his hair was getting a tad unruly, and while i hated to do it, i knew a trim/shaping would look so much better! he's been to this little place before, and i've even let mike go without me and he's come home fine. however, this time the lady butchered his hair. seriously, what part of trim it a little, but keep the curl in the back was hard to understand?! i know i need to get over it, but i'm not sure i will until it grows out a bit! on another note, he looks so much like my brother timmy with his haircut...

a little messy, post-nap

i'm biased, but what a heartbreaker!

since it rained all day friday and saturday, we were so ready to get out of the house today! what could be better than an 80 degree day:) so after church, nap & lunch we headed to a street festival in white plains. there was an antique car show, and they had a fire engine there for the kids to "drive." jack loved this!

bye, bye aminals...

jack is too cute with his words and sentences these days. just yesterday while playing with his barn, i heard him say to the sheep, pig, cow & horse (all lined up of course!) "i give hugs to aminals, thank you." he then proceeded to pick each one up and hug and kiss them...could he be any cuter! then it was clean up time, so he exclaimed bye, bye and threw them back in the barn!?

*note he does in fact switch the "m" and "n" in the word animal, which i think is adorable, albeit grammatically incorrect!

we went to the central park zoo with "aunt" jenny and her b-friend jon...

jack and jenny checking out the llama *i think*

on the way home we hit gw bridge traffic, naturally, so jack kept us entertained:)
*please note the ridiculous amount of drool on his chin...2 year molars, please come!

we also went to the natural history museum last weekend and jack had some fun "sitting" on a dinosaur arm bone

"apa get you a bike!"

for about 2 weeks now jack has been walking around saying this line over and over!! there was, of course, a little prompting from a certain mimi, but it really didn't take all that much!

well, the bike finally did arrive yesterday, an early birthday gift:) we kept it hidden until jack went to bed and then mike put it together. our idea was to wheel it in to him this morning when he woke up, and hopefully get his reaction on camera!

happy 23 months!

to my little guy,

what you have taught me in these last 23 months is incomprehensible. i am amazed and overjoyed by you each day. i've learned to cherish each moment with you because i realize (now more than ever) that these moments will pass us by in a flash.

love, mom

blast from the past:)

a is for alligator...

we made an alligator "a" this week as one of our crafts. jack had fun, but as you'll see the "a" didn't really get colored in like it was supposed to....i mentioned the word glue and that was it for the coloring?! i'm not even sure we've really used glue before, but he just kept asking for the glue over and over again! such a boy;)

not the greatest pic, but it captured a very happy little guy running to his daddy:)

on another note, i am constantly amazed at the progression of jack's speech. not only does he repeat multi-syllable words, but he's saying 4+ word sentences! although not grammatically correct, one of my current favorite lines is "car i use" which is really his way of saying "this is the car i'm using." another cute one, again he's mis-pronouncing, is "one mitten" which really means "one minute!" he uses this line to get me to rub his back for one more minute...sigh, i fall for it every time:)
