i knew we had to move jack to a big boy bed, we needed him to be in one by vacation in july (we can't possibly rent 2 cribs!?), so when jack finally started to express real interest in one, we followed his lead. we're on day 3 and i am pleasantly surprised by how well he has done. he may take a bit longer to settle down, but he's so excited about being in a "bed" that he really hasn't gotten out. i guess he never ceases to amaze me:)
on another note, jack has been sick on and off for a while now. first he contracted coxsakie virus, and then while he was recovering from that he managed to get a sinus infection. ugh, poor kid. ironically we never even really go anywhere (kinda trapped with the routine of a 5 month old;), so i can't believe he's managed to get sick like this. anywho, when we both started this sinus infection, it hit pretty hard. even i went to the dr. because i was so sick. i took him in just to be sure there wasn't some other underlying issue we were missing. he has been mentioning for a while now that he is tired randomly throughout the day. at first i thought nothing of it, because he would run and get his blankets and pillow and want you to snuggle with him--i thought it was a phase. i mentioned it to the dr. while we were there and we decided to run some blood, which by the way jack handled like a champ--not one tear! we thought we'd rule out mono, and we did, but it turns out jack has zero iron stores!? i never would've guessed this because he really is a pretty well-rounded eater. i'm so thankful we caught it because had we not, it could've been a more serious problem. as of right now, he's on an iron supplement, and we'll re-evaluate in two months. i wish i would've caught this sooner, but i'm just relieved we caught it at all, because really who would've guessed iron deficiency.
