it is hard to believe that we are embarking on jack's 5th year, but alas we are. my little baby, who stole my heart from the moment i held him, is growing up way too fast. there is no more baby in his face, all the little chub is gone, and as you will see from his picture this morning, he is certainly growing like a weed!
he was so excited to go this year, there was only the tiniest bit of apprehension when i mentioned to him that he might not be able to wave to me from the window because he was in a different classroom. when we arrived and he saw that there was in fact a window, all the apprehension diminished and he barely even hugged me good-bye-lol!?
after pick-up, which is the most chaotic experience one can imagine, jack told me that he had the best day and was so happy to be back. he talked about seeing his friends from last year, and who he played with. of course he mentioned maddie, whom i'm not sure i have mentioned before, but they have a bit of a thing for each other! actually, how he put it was like this:
me: did you see maddie today?
j: yup.
me: did you play with her?
j: well, she didn't see me until circle time and then she sat right next to me.
me: was it good to see her?
j: yeah. she came over while i was reading, and sat right next to me. she really wore me out!
i kid you not, i about fell over when he told me how she wore him out. if only i had it recorded, because he told the story in the deepest, most grown-up voice!? jack, you have no idea, this is only the beginning, girls will wear you out for the rest of your life!
the annual first day picture, was taken indoors this morning no thanks to mother nature and her torrential downpour!

Oh Jack,
I am so happy you had a great first day at school. You love to learn new things, You always ask questions, you like to see how things work, your brain is a sponge. You have an awesome memory and you can put information together and solve problems and find answers. I know you are still young, almost 5, but you amaze us with how you listen and process things.
I like your first day of school picture. You are ready to learn for sure.
I know your teacher is going to be very happy to have you in her class. She will be pleased because you will be a good student, and she will really like your manners and how you like to help others.
You like to listen to music, play ALL sports, especially golf and football this week. You like to learn about the universe and nature.
You always like to work hard and you don't stop until the job is done. One of the things you love to tel me when we are weeding the garden is "MiMi we're the worker bees, we know how to work hard, we are good workers huh" and I always smile, because you are always willing to help out and do chores.
I am also keeping a record of Jackisms, those are the things you say that are funny, insightful, and of course because they are you, just Jack. We love to hear your expressions. You say the funniest things and I wish we could capture all of them because they are usually so true.
You are a great big brother and daley always wants to be just like you. You always think of her, help her, share with her and guide her. What more can a sister ask for.
We had a great vacation at the beach. You are a fish in the water. You didn't want to get out and you were swimming under water like a pro. You also loved to go treasure hunting with me and we did find some awesome treasures.
I treasure our time together, especially our long walks star fish searching, looking for shells and other treasures. You are my BFF and I love you so much. I love playing games and doing projects with you. You are FUN guy and you like to have fun. You have an awesome sense of humor.
I miss you so much and can't wait to see you again.
I have our shells and sand dollars all ready for our project. It will be very special just like you.
I love you like crazy cakes....
Love,
Mi Mi and Apa
